The gaming community seems extremely misogynistic, so this does not surprise me at all, sadly, and it makes perfect sense. All these gamercels, trancels, etc. are socially inept, porn-addicted MRA-adjacent manchildren who live online.

I accidentally stumbled into a TRA cesspool on Twitter, and the number of insane looking men in lingerie raving about “tiddy skittles” and getting “big ole bimbo/anime tiddies” was huge. “The more of these girl pills I take, the dumber I get....uWu tee~hee~hee”)...it was like a combination of a 50s movie with a “dumb blonde” character and a bunch of porn tropes. Women are not even human to them, just 2D fapping fodder.

When you combine that with the “bash TERFs” rhetoric, it’s so obvious they’re getting off on the idea of dumb women, and on the notion of being violent and putting women in their place. Smart, capable, independent, and strong-willed women just enrage them. Not only is it disgusting, but they are dangerously mentally ill.

It is vicious cycle -> less women in gaming because of misogynic gaming community -> community is misogynic as there no women in them. Same with game development, around 80+% of developers (and even bigger percent among programmers) are men, and they have very toxic mentality there. Check Ubisoft recent scandal, for example, when all company descisions and discussions were made in strip-clubs, and few women who were working there, were all time verbally assaulted with sexisms or sexual harrassment "jokes".
