Females especially have more than one system in progress when we smell other people. Our biology knows from HLA ( mhc in animals) if someone is genetically close to our genetic makeup ( the species mates for diversity, so someone who is close to you might be weird and icky if you kiss), pheromones are driven by genetics. Just because some male shoots up estradiol doesn't mean he's a lesbian and that REAL lesbians can't know the difference. That's where genetics IS involved. The many trans widows I spoke to commented, every one, that when they had close contact with the husband after he started shooting up, he didn't smell like a man anymore, or a woman. Some joked alien. Studies have shown statically significant evidence of a few things: Females ( hetero) when blindfolded and handed a few dozen shirts to smell, know which one is their husband's. Also, those same women reported getting disgusted by smelling some of the other shirts and found them a turn off-- and those are the ones which have the genetic similarities. With regards to the olfactory system and genetics, it's proven lesbians have a biologically different system going on.
