I thought transitioning was supposed to make you feel happy because you turn into "your true self", but this FTM's life sounds hellish

Just saw this post on r/relationship_advice. OP's pretty sure that her SO is FTM, and here is why:

He has ED, and the typical meds do not work.
He may be able to get surgery one day for an implant to allow erections.
He takes monthly testosterone injections.
Several years ago he had some sort of chest surgery that severed nerve endings to his upper chest region and nipples.
He has dealt with anorexia, depression, and anxiety in the past, and still has depression that is well controlled.

Again, on their own, none of these would make we wonder. But together, along with his general personality and some mannerisms, I wonder if he has transitioned from female to male.

It's a lot! I know there are some men who roll slowly but wow, they haven't even had sex yet. This doesn't sound like your typical guy. Also, I know some people are diamonds in the rough, but it sounds like this lady is taking on a big project with all the medical and emotional issues. I say that as someone with medical shit herself--i know. I feel concerned for women who take on project relationships like this, regardless of orientation.

Everyone has baggage, but only the person in the relationship can decide how much is too much. Sadly women are conditioned to put up with a lot of fixer-uppers.

I first took the reference to ED here to mean eating disorder... because most TIFs I know of have histories of such. Took me a while to realize it means erectile dysfunction, which I know ED means when speaking of males but not of females, even including TIFs. My understanding is that just as most TiMs keep their dicks and balls, most TIFs also don't get genital surgeries. Good thing, too, since genital surgeries seem awful. TiFs nowadays just rebrand their T-enlarged clits as "dicks" and claim they now "nut" (ejaculate from the penis) the way TiMs rebrand their dicks as "female penises" and "girl cocks."
