I thought that was obvious from the start. There was a dramatic shift in what subreddits were popular, the way politics overtook everything on the front page, moderation went into overdrive, and censorship and curating comment sections skyrocketed. Even the upvote system was changed so they could pump up votes on their preferred narrative posts and most people just accept it. 30k people didnt upvote some "news" article attack Blonald Blumpf, they essentially pin it to the front page these days.
Fuck reddit. It killed off most old school hobby forums. Now if I want to interact with my hobbies communities I have to go to a fucking subreddit. I hate this centralized, sterilized, algorithm'd bullshit link aggregators. Take me back to forums and IRC.

I bet there are still forums out there.
I've sort of given up on finding people to share my hobby with on-line. I think I'll just have to quietly enjoy my hobby without people. That's ok. Back in the day, none of this would have existed. Like JoGooD said, maybe it's time to just move off-line, for the most part.
