Whatever "the mark" actually is, it will be a substantive alteration to the physical characteristice of our mind and soul, will prevent a person from returning home to the Creator and reuniting with His creation. I don't think it will be something as inane as a checkmark on a list, there will have to be a core change to how a person is wired and affect whether Faith can be attainable after receiving "the mark".

Yes, this is a very important point, there appears to be an irreversible submission to the beast such that the individual actually places themselves beyond salvation.

I wonder if there is some connection between the men who ‘shall desire to die and death shall flee from them’, and the trans-human projects, and Satan’s assurance in the garden that ‘you shall not surely die’?
