My dad is doing the Alpha course and one of the other participants said to him that wasn't it so amazing that the old testament predicted so many aspects of Jesus's life.

My dad said, it's it far more likely they people who wrote about Jesus just made up those aspects so that they fitted with the predictions about the messiah.

They are now making him do the course on his own, one on one.

Yo that is hella sketchy. Show your dad this video, or even the channel, it's pretty academic and not from a particular religious perspective. Man that's so bad, I feel sorry for your dad

Why would that be significant? Some Christians thought he just appeared in Capernaum one day. Or even that it all took place in a higher realm and we only heard about it through sent messengers like Paul and John the baptist. Interestingly enough, I revealed evidence for Paul being a mythicist yesterday, and the gospel of John opens describing John the baptist being a witness so that "all the world could believe through him". It may shock you to find that some of the most esteemed figures held such "heretical" beliefs, but if you think just a bit deeper you won't be able to answer why these questions matter at all. Because really, no matter how it happened it doesn't change a damn thing.
