Very unlikely to be Reddit related. Definitely worth scanning for viruses/malware, though.
Reddit will just be using your IP address and probably browser fingerprinting to detect ban evaders. Be aware that the reddit experience on a fresh account is utterly shite these days, in many subs you'll be effectively shadowbanned (comments won't show up unless manually allowed by a mod) for just having a new account/low karma. But you can't get upvotes if nobody can see your comments...
