Why is it up to me? Is it my shelter?
If it's my shelter, it sounds like I have enough food for 1 person to live for 18 months.

Jokes aside, I don't see that I need to save 6 people here, I simply can.

1 Is welcome, you little slut. Guess I can't kick a pregnant woman out.
2 Sounds dangerous. If he gives up his weapons to me, sure.
3 Uh, sure, I guess? No reason to say no.
4 I think you might have done your dash, father, sorry.
5 Doctor is handy.
6 and 7 - You can't compromise, you can't enter.
8 If there's room, but seeing as you can't continue the species and skilled in a useful way, you're last on the list.
9 The drifter is healthier and younger, so he comes in first, but I don't see much use for you otherwise.
10 Yeah, sure. You got no skills now, but if you're healthy and mentally stable, sure.

Honestly, the surrendering of the weapons doesn't leave the cop defenseless, but it does two things:

    1) Shows that, despite the charges, he's willing to compromise and let's us see his reaction. If he is hesitant or angry, it's clear that he isn't a good fit, as the need to use violence is always at the forefront of his mind.

    2) Puts him in a position where he has to fight off 6 other people, hand to hand.

My limited understanding of fallout is that it lingers around for a month or two before it's safe to pass through, but that can change based on location and weather. I'd think you'd be better off picking 3 people who are decent, healthy and useful rather than 6 who are questionable. Hang around for as long as you can... Heck, maybe rescue and cleanup teams will come, who knows? Depends how the rest of the country is doing I guess... Then it's going to become more important to secure food and water than anything else. :(

Bring the police officer in first. Take his gun and kill him. Dump the body outside and keep the gun. Bring in 1 through 5, 8 and 9. Everybody now knows that they shouldn't cross you during the stay.

He didn't know I already had a piece inside the shelter, so I didn't ask.

problem is you have to sleep sometime and then YOU will be another corpse being dumped outside

I've got a separate bedroom with a locked steel door.

None of those worthless sacks of shit will be saved.

This is a rather odd question. As a working, straight white male with kids and a functional wife, I fully believe that most of these would get priority over me and my family. Probably all of them. But I would take,

1 Yep, I see no reason not to.

2 No thanks. I don't need him running the roost

3 I would rather not, she sounds like a bag of trouble.

4 While I have nothing against taking in an old priest, being raised Catholic myself the teachings he has would likely instruct him to sacrifice his life for others in any case.

5 Probably yes, that 16 year old is likely going to need someone who knows what their doing.

6/7 Given I have rejected most people so far, I guess I'd have to.

8 Who knows, maybe he's a laugh? I get the impression we aren't trying to restart the human race here. If we are, then we're pretty fucked with that list already, so meh.

9 So long as I can bring my guitar, a jam buddy sounds good.

10 Well, I have seen enough movies to know that he is actually Satan himself. We're going to wake up and that glowing eyed motherfucker is going to have already summoned the vortex and be all like shemhamforashing all over the damned place. So really, whether I want to let him in or not, he'll use mind control on someone to gain entry anyway so no fighting that. Makes me think we should have kept the bloody priest now. Who knows, maybe he had learned a thing or two about demonolgy and could fight it, or worst case, the ol' adversary there will put his attentions on him and flame him up like a fireball allowing the rest of us just enough time to escape. I should have thought this through more. Is he wearing a hat? The hat gives it away! Does he have his head down and look up with piercing eyes? You know that shit is going to turn into serpent eyes the second the door is bolted, don't you?

We're doomed. At a push, I may sacrifice the retired prostitute I rescued but knowing our luck she will turn into a subservient mistress of hell and then we got double trouble. Maybe I should have sacrificed the architect. I've never seen a demon be all like, "Oh yoohoo... gonna feast on your ass, rawr!" in a movie.

That's an excellent point. Is he really that great of a priest anyways if he won't sacrifice himself for another to be worth saving anyways.

if you get inside first and immediately lock the armored door you have 7x3 =21 months of food

how tiny the shelter is might also be a consideration

oh and this test should not say anything about the unanimous thing and should make it all YOUR choice

      [–]Vulptex 2 insightful - 2 fun2 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

      I should be left out.

      [–]Alphix 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (5 children)

      Leaving out 3, 6 and 7.

      [–]Musky[S] 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (4 children)

You still must exclude one more. I wouldn't get rid of any of the women personally.

Edit: I guess nothing says you gotta save everyone.

      [–]Alphix 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Oh, right. 7 out of 11 not 10. Hm... Number 9 goes.

      So that's 3, 6, 7 and 9.

      [–]Vulptex 1 insightful - 2 fun1 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 2 fun -  (2 children)

      So you hate men?

      [–]Musky[S] 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

No. 1, 3, and 7 are the only ones who can have children, and 5 is a doctor. All the women in this scenario are important for the human race not to die out.

The only man I'd absolutely refuse is the cop cause he's likely to power trip, although the priest seems rather useless too.

      [–]Vulptex 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

FUCK "the human race not dying out". And since when did Long Island house the entirety of the species?

      [–]iamonlyoneman 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (4 children)

Keep the girl, keep the husband and wife. The boozy wife will go through withdrawals and be fine in a little while. Without sexes for the rest, there's not enough information. Maybe let the chick doctor in but the rest? They can all turn to ash while I use the girl and the marrieds do their thing. Since it's an hypothetical, I have a gun and shoot the cop first and the others can find somewhere to fuck off to or be shot also. Bingo, unanimous decision.

      [–]iamonlyoneman 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

I hate nobody, not even foxy men ;)

      [–]Vulptex 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

Then why do you want to make sure they're women before letting them in?

      [–]iamonlyoneman 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

      I don't (?)

      [–][deleted] 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

      Leave 2, 3, 4 and 8.

      [–]ActuallyNot 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

      1 and 5 are in.

      2 and 4 are out.

Of 3, (6,7), 8, 9 10, chuck the two oldest out, or the couple of one of them is in the oldest 2.
