    I belong to a tiny sect of Bahaism called Unitarian Bahaism, founded by Mirza Muhammad Ali in the early 1900s. It is a reaction to mainstream Bahaism becoming too authoritarian, and treating religious leaders like gods, hence the name "Unitarian" (muwahhid in Arabic), to emphasize the oneness of God, and that religious leaders are not gods.     Why would you build a temple?

    Because the Unitarian Baha'is no existing temples, even though the writings command us to build them. Having a temple is nice just because it gives members of the religion a place to gather.
