There's not really much evidence that probiotic pills do anything, though it certainly won't hurt to take them. You're better off making fermented food a part of every meal. Real sauerkraut, kimchi, miso, plain kefir and yogurt. Avoid sugar and processed foods.

    Try a health food store or co-op, it's also easy (and much cheaper) to make with some patience, there are tons of recipes online.

    Look for the sauerkraut in a jar in the chilled produce section of the grocery store.

    I second everything said here. This seemed to work for me after taking antibiotics for diverticulitis. They do make probiotics that have a tough "shell" that's supposed to pass through the stomach.
