Copyright strike is the main one he is thinking about I guess.

If I were the OP I wouldn't really give a fuck, but If he can't afford this I'd advise him to just DM one of the admins

Could it be fear (false evidence appearing real)? Could it be a guilty conscience? Would help the brother if possible yet it seems as if speculation may be what one seeks.

    (In most countries,) If they don't CLEARLY/EXPLICITLY tell that the logo isn't copyrighted, then the default position is that you have to ask the permission (copyrighted by default, even If in their minds they didn't care at that time). I know it sucks, but "that's the law" :/ .
