At least this war would be beneficial to the US people, unlike Ukraine.

Is this one of those 'we need a war to jumpstart our failing economy' things? Cause it really seems like we are hellbent on starting a war right now

"The war on drugs has helped turn Latin America into the most violent region in the world."

The War on Drugs is the biggest policy failure on so many levels, but both parties push it to sound tough on crime. Biden is a huge proponent, even though it was Nixon's baby and it's only intent was to stifle any dissent against him by rounding up black militants and counterculture hippies. End it. Legalize, tax, regulate all drugs. That's the only way to gain any sense of control over it.

And not from a pro-drug stance, but from a taxpayer stance. I'd rather people who want drugs to get them legally and be held responsible for the cost then the current plan, which is to treat them as children and victims, locking them into a system that's tough as hell to get out of. You wanna do drugs? Fine, get a job, pay for them including taxes, and the government can fund treatment centers for you. What would we do with all the tax dollars from drug sales and the savings from reducing prisons and court time, not to mention policing?
