According to this and this the performance of trans women declines significantly with only one year of hormone therapy. For the latter study, a longer time on HT would likely decrease their performance further.

Making trans women compete against men would result in them playing at a significant disadvantage. Playing against only other trans women would be mildly dehumanizing by relegating them to an "other" league that will likely never be recognized in a serious manner.

Also, please on this sub don't call girls and women "cis." Many of us consider it an extremely offensive slur. Thanks.

I'm only using cis to differentiate from trans women since there isn't a better term that I know of. No harm meant, sorry.

I understand your concern, but I don't see why trans women competing with cis women is an issue, since they have little to no advantage after sufficient time on hormone therapy. While certain traits may give them a small advantage, their testosterone levels are often below typical female levels, acting as a disadvantage.

Relegating trans people to an "other" league is kinda dehumanizing and likely harmful to their mental health (as if it isn't bad enough). They care about sports as much as you did.

FYI Even trans people are divided on what to do about sports. Trans women who are on hormone therapy are going to lose to men, but they temporarily retain a advantage over cis women. It's a sucky situation for everyone.

I really don't know how to resolve this issue. An outright ban would be devastating to the many trans athletes who compete on a level playing field, but there's no clear criteria that determines when there is minimal to no advantage left for trans women.

Just my two cents
