Needed features:

Formatting documentation. Unfortunately a mix of Markdown and HTML instead of BBCode but it needs to be documented or at least a link to documentation if it conforms to some standard.

Actually there is no real separation between posted paragraphs, which there should be in Markdown. I have to add a "<br>" for this which shouldn't be necessary.

Edit chat comments.

There are no limits on bad taste or stupidity here. The limits are on expressing things of substance that the admins don't like.

SaidIt has censorship. It also has a lot of bugs that never get fixed. I just spent a few hours playing with Twitter and it is improving. The Twitter search now works, it didn't used to. The SaidIt search never worked.

Hiding the text for users who aren't logged in is a horrible idea. I mean instead of implementing any of the millions of things that that site needs, you implement this crap. How modern.

I am a mod here and I get spam reports for all of your posts, which I have ignored up to now. But if you don't remove this text hiding feature, I will start marking as spam those posts of yours that get reported.

Discord has the features I asked for. Not having these features is quite pathetic. I think I could program a simple web chat to do what I want in about 10 hours. I will look around some more and then decide what to do.

The Teamspeak UI makes no sense to me. Where do I find a server to connect to to try it? It looks like it is only used for private servers.

IRC is just pathetic. I can't see chat history. And I can't edit my old messages.

So, is there anything that doesn't suck?

Matrix is alt-tech. IRC is old but web interfaces that I have seen are pretty bad. And I don't know much about Teamspeak except that it is new. So what is most usable? Tell me and I will look when I have time.
