I relate a lot to this. I'm butch-ish and definitely did the NLOG-thing as a teen, but I think it was a coping measure because I felt so deficient as a woman. Looking back, I think it was angst about being gay and not putting the pieces together yet. I don't know why everything clarified when I came out to myself, but damned if it didn't!

It was coined in 2008, and not (as is often claimed) as a self-referential term, but by a feminist blogger Tigtog who characterized her 'terfs' as unethical and callous for not wanting trans women at Michfest.

I've gone ahead and made an account, but yeah... The twitter format doesn't work well for me either. Staring at the empty page, thinking, "Ok. Now what?"

I like this sort of more conversational format much better vs. trying to shout declarative statements into the void in hopes that someone retweets or whatever. 🙃

I'm willing to try it out also, but my hopes are low as the influx of new users are what keep any online community alive.

Has anyone tried out Spinster? I was put off initially because I'd heard they were affiliated with (far-right) Gab, but apparently that was false straw-grasping to discredit it. While it shares an open source backend with Gab, so do many other decentralized social networks -- including ones popular with TRAs themselves. Probably going to give that a shot soon.
