In an ideal world everyone would find their soul-mate and marry for life by age 20. However In a society where dysfunctional relationships, sexual frustration and poverty are common, perhaps prostitution is the least worse outcome. i think you are reacting to a symptom of a broken society without considering what the alternatives would be. I agree we should minimise and not normalise prostitution, but that is different from banning or criminalizing it. Eve if we stop it that will not stop men wanting sex or women using sex for non-monetary gains.

Selling sex for career advancement is a form of prostitution, not a 'power imbalance'. If it's wrong then the prostitutes should be prosecuted as well, rather than being worshipped as 'victims'.
