Why in God's name are we still using youtube? There are so SO many alternatives out there. Rumble, Bitchute, Full30 (for guns), even others like Dailymotion are still better.

I totally sympathize but the reason I do it, particularly on this forum, is that YT vids embed very nicely. Doesn't always work with alternatives.

Youtube still has all the best content.

If you want to see porn or angry people yelling about politics, yeah, the others are ok. If you want to watch normal content across a wide range of topics, Youtube's still the only option.

Yep, and I wouldn't even think about asking normal content creators to move. While I use and support Bitchute, it's infested with far right nutters and edgy boys. That's not appealing to most content creators.

I generally agree. Although to be fair, Youtube was the same way ~15 years ago. Production quality of most videos were terrible and it was just a place for people to upload talking head videos.

And then it grew, attracted a large enough audience where Youtube could afford to pay ad revenue to creators, which snowballed and attracted more creators.

I don't know why more creators don't publish to multiple platforms. Youtube doesn't force creators to sign a non-compete or exclusivity agreement. And virtually every channel I watch has whined about Youtube's "algorithm" censoring them or hurting them in some way, either intentionally or unintentionally. You'd think they'd want to hedge their bets. It takes a few seconds of your time to upload a video to Vimeo/Bitchhute/Gvid/etc. Why's that so hard?

I handful of creators do publish to some niche paywall video sites that specialize in educational content (documentaries, science, etc), but I wonder how successful they are.

Legitimately the worst decision in the history of YouTube. Now if you're watching tutorial or something you can't separate what's good and what's stupid and fake.

I stick to Odysee to follow people I usually do, but YouTube still plays big role regardless.

What's the synopsis of this. I don't particularly wanna watch the video.

(2:34) Orwellian A+++ parody of a YouTube announcement.

Thanks. YouTube is already a shit show. So it isn't surprising

Well I watched part of it.

But I agree that the dislike button is garbage, it shouldn't exist

Funny. Although it's ironic that Gvid already doesn't have most of the features that video is mocking Youtube for removing.
