Here is something of interest, this phrase: לֹ֥א תוֹנ֖וּ אֹתֽוֹ which has been translated a few ways but that's where they get "oppress" or "wrong" from. It's the second word in there: תונו . Would be interesting to get more info on the root and meaning of this word, since this is the activity you're not supposed to do to these strangers in the land. This is pretty imporant, some other words in there like "citizen" or "strangers among you" more interesting phrases, since citizen at least in modern times implies a set of rights which are usually equal to everyone, but we must likely view this through a biblical lense or in those times, whatever that means then. People in Gaza were definitely not treated liek average Israelis, but certain not treated like slaves either, so its important to figure these things out. Give Gazans their own authority to rule themselves but restrict imports and movement from outside their zone? Is that the activity which G-d prohibits? Important questions....
