A good summary, which falls to never trust hardware solutions for data/software problems.
Though from my 'information streams' this is a BIG problem from a lot of businesses (or governmental instances) as they were recently 'SSDed' and solutions like this were used for encryption because of the shared keybase. Why a BIG problem? Because when it comes to laptops, if they get stolen... (And yeah, a lot of governmental thingies/ advocates / businesses just use windows/hardware solutions. Not to mention the passwords are usually Welcome01 [translated to your language] )
