Man, does the humour really need to be explained? Every few years there's some pending event in the US (Bush getting re-elected, Trump getting elected) that causes leftist celebs to threaten to leave if it happens. Cher threatened to leave if Trump got elected the first time, but she obviously didn't.

Anyway, this is just the first of probably many threats to "leave" that no one will follow through with.

Usually when it comes to celebrities, they decide not to move because, well, they've got successful careers where they are.

Cher, though, is almost 80. Her career is very much behind her. If she wants to live out the last few years of her life being hand-fed grapes at some Spanish villa, it's not irrational at all for her to do that.
