I heard it was the Fukushima nuclear disaster that caused Germany to want to phase out nuclear energy.

Fukushima was caused by a tsunami, which they don't get in Europe. If that was her reasoning then it's still just as poor in my opinion.
Well maintained nuclear facilities are very safe, it's probably the cleanup of the waste that is the biggest issue.

We do get Tsunamis every now and then in Europe.
Lisbon was wiped out by one.
But Germany has a tiny coast line.
