The approval rate of a sitting president doesn't necessarily have any relationship to the election.

That being said, 51.3% voted for Joe Biden and his approval rating is currently 43%. So those numbers don't seem unrealistic even if they were linked.

i highly doubt 80 million people voted for him

I think that huge boost comes from people that did not want Trump for another term. Mainstream media was essentially campaigning against him for 4 years making him look like a buffoon. Not that he always needed help. And I saw you didn't like Poppers answer, but Trump didn't fulfill his drain the swamp or healthcare reform promises. That's why I had voted for him primarily originally and why I voted for Biden last time.

And voting for Biden wasn't a bad move, even though Biden is an absolutely terrible President, Congress is pretty much deadlocked. Neither party can fuck up things too bad.

Since we're seeing a red wave coming it probably isn't even a bad idea to vote for Senile Joe again. Never a good idea to give too much power to a single pack of political goons of any stripe.
