The left is way worse than the hard conservatives and evangelical christians of the 70s and 80s. They just wanted to ban shit like promo, D&D and heavy metal bands. They wouldn’t show up at some random guys job to get him fired because said random guy admitted that he liked to play d&d while listening to Kiss.

This is how I remembered it as well, but someone in another discussion reminded me about conservative talk/TV hosts getting people fired and shows cancelled. Focus on the Family, Glenn Beck, etc all pulled these sorts of campaigns. I wish I had links for you but I can assure you it did happen, if you doubt it then a little research should bring it up.

What has changed, other than the outrage culture mob moving to the left, is that the mob is now empowered by social media to coordinate and move more quickly. This makes them much more powerful than the conservative cancellers were.

Edit: social media also allows anyone to start a cancel campaign, whereas previously you had to be a public figure in order to get any traction.

    I beg to differ. Many right-wing governments actually encourage severe defunding of governmental programs, police, fire, etc. Their belief in Latin America is that the people should fend for themselves.

    If the Mexican government was actually run properly, they would have put one guy in charge of the drug distribution trade. Their attitude however is of total apathy, which is why things are just insane there.

    The left in the US is insane however and wants to defund police because they believe this will somehow improve the quality of life for the poor in their cities. They're about to learn the hard way what a huge mistake this is. I work in the hood, they don't know what these people are like. They are the problem! Liberals, also know them too well, most are mentally ill. What I hope would happen is if they get their way, the Sheriffs, State Police and Feds would take over until hopefully the people vote these idiots out, or worst case scenario, take it over. I don't want to see something like this happen in America but maybe it just needs to happen. It pretty much did in Detroit. The Feds found charges on Kwame, forced him to resign and suddenly, Detroit wasn't putting ghetto candidates up for election anymore. First it was Dave Bing, then it was Mike Duggan, a white guy who has no business being elected mayor, but he's honestly done a great job. They might have to do the same thing in these nutty lib cities until they prove they can be taken off the "super-secret conservatorship." I don't know.

      I think a lot of the reason they support extremist socialism is because the leaders basically give them nothing and education is so terrible. I work in schools and whereas AAs are absolutely horrible human beings and do not value education, Hispanic kids and their parents are generally a lot better. Even if they're into the gangster life, they listen to you and can be controlled. Even the worst ones, you can see hope for them. A lot of the second and third-gen ones are a lot better. They're basically indistinguishable from white kids.

      AAs...how can they improve in life when you have some effing NY liberal calling people a racist for trying to address problems with their culture? Seriously, I've scolded so many of these smug elitists, just schooled them. I'm like, you've never been in their areas, never been in their schools, giving them more money isn't the problem, their attitude and culture are the problem. They respond "You're a racist!" and I just light into them. I don't even care anymore, I'm so sick of enablers.

      People on the right are stronger and have thicker skin than the pussified, chickenshit cowardly snowflakes on the left, with their precious self-esteem and forever-butthurt feelings.
      Don't get me wrong- the right wing Jesus freaks aren't much better but they're less likely to try to get you fired - they just want you the fuck off their lawn.

      I remember the days when the conservatives were in power. They did a pretty bad job, which is why people switched to the left. But the left today are far more destructive than the right ever was. Conservatives never went rampaging, and encouraging violence against everyone that breathed. But that's not to say the left have all bad ideas. Maybe a couple of their ideas are alright, and should be adopted by conservatives.

      Yeah I agree, George Bush Jr being an absolute trainwreck who caused 2 wars costing us over $2 trillion dollars and the lives of half a million people... so it's no wonder people swung to the left. But this fast swinging from left to right and back again seems to be desired by those in power. Divide and conquer.

      What they don't want is people waking up to this sham of a dupoloy system, and realizing that neither of the two groups of people in power give a shit about any of us in any real way. Authoritarians are all the same, whether red or blue

      The left controlled the press and could make the right look crazy when they tried to do that. The problem now is that the left IS the nanny state and the media cheers them on. It's becoming a problem.
