They will either ignore it or try to shift the Overton window by talking about how it's racist to not go further.

Trump certainly isn't principled but he might abandon this if there's pushback from the right, he has in the past. That's a low bar but better than Democrats treat the right by far.

That's a good point.

I can't see how Republicans can ignore this. This is a huge deal and I hope they speak out. Then it will force the Democrats to embarrass themselves even more.
