What a beautiful day it will be when all the ten thousand "enforcement" agencies simply refuse to participate in dominating and abusing people. Unfortunately, many are drawn to these professions precisely because they like dominating and abusing.

Very true. You're aptitude tested, but they also test your personality and see what kind of person you are as well; do you obey orders well, or do you question authority if things seem wrong? They can't have the latter in their bucket.
