I like crypto too, and stocks. It's good to diversify. This was $20 when I bought it so it wasn't particularly precious then.

do you know what a bitcoin is? it is 256 zeroes and ones strung together and your stupid asses just keep buying them like they are actually worth something.

People shitting on cryptocurrencies are normally either government trolls who want to keep things the way they are, or those who are ignorant on the subject of what is the initial motivation for starting all that (read the original BTC paper for that), what are the problems with the current garbage financial system (read Mike Maloney Gold Silver book or watch his videos on YT / Odysee) and what would fair system looks like.

I grew up (still there) as a thirdie, I witnessed those problems first hand, from government abusing the currency supplies to them harassing us with freezing accounts randomly and to them denying us the citizens access to the international trading markets. But now it's hitting firsties hard too, with the truck convoy being harassed by the government and all the shit show going on with inflation and exploding prices in the rest of the western world.. Guess what, normal people are always on the loosing end with the current financial system..

Do you know what currency is? I will give you 10kg of papers, they are worth an airplane.. You will give me the airplane right? or do you want to know another actual fact? 97% of currency exists only in banks databases only, 0 and 1 like you said.. let me give you a 10 Billion USD (coming from a bank) 0001001010010110100100010001001010010110100100010001001010010110100100010001001010010110100100010001001010010110100100010001001010010110100100010001001010010110100100010001001010010110100100010001001010010110100100010001001010010110100100010001001010010110100100010001001010010110100100010001001

You get the point, right?

If I will be using a currency then it would better be: non-inflationary, not in control of an entity (government, bank, company, ..), has very cheap transfer rates, instant transfers.. The USD (and all other currencies) fails miserably to have any chance against crypto.. Go ahead and read about the backbone of recent banking systems (it's Ripple technology), you fail to understand that you are using crypto at the deepest layer.. and are over-charged for it.. Go ahead and have an opinion and get your earned currency through hard work frozen or taken away.. Wake up!

That's cool I need to get me something like that.

I was thinking of picking up more until I looked at the premiums. Spot price is $25 but it's going at $10 premiums even for silver shot! I remember why I stopped collecting silver now and back then I thought $3 premiums (with free shipping!) was atrocious.

I guess it's not an issue in times like these where everyone wants silver, I'm sure I could find a buyer for all my silver in a day, but I couldn't go to a pawn shop or coin store and not get fucked. That's too high a premium to eat or simply outwait, and that was an issue at $3.

If silver drops back to $17 though, and you paid $35... You're getting super hosed cause that downward price movement won't support high premiums. And there's plenty of silver production normally. This is likely a temporary thing. Unless there's WW3.

I'm going to get myself a nice gold coin. Apparently coins are tax free in the UK.

[–][deleted] 2 insightful - 2 fun2 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 2 fun -  (2 children)

I think I'd be nervous about having a 2 grand oz gold coin. I was looking for 1/10 oz coins but they're sold out from all the bullion places I'm familiar with.

Apparently coins are tax free in the UK.

Huh, nice. Didn't realize they lifted the VAT on gold, but it's only for gold unfortunately.

I already have 2 grand of jewellery lying around the house from my gem buying days.

I'm sure it went up in value in the end but it's just not as satisfying as seeing growth as figures on the screen.

You paid $2 grand? The wife has a lot of jewelry that cost me a lot to buy, but the resale is shockingly low. Scrap prices. And gemstones, despite retailing for a lot, generally aren't really worth much. Mined diamonds wholesale for $80 a carat. Or did a few years ago. Manufactured stones like rubies can cost pennies a carat. I have not found good prices on lab diamonds oddly enough, around $100 carat. Usually they aren't more than the mined stuff. A lot of people try to charge thousands though.

An oz of gold is about the size of a quarter. Here's a silver American Eagle next to a gold one, next to a 1/10 oz one, and the tiny one is a gram of gold I think it's awesome personally. I just misplace stuff a lot.

it is a hunk of metal.. you might as well cut off a chunk of your yark rake and carve a picture in it.. it really has no value, except that you have been told that it has value.

enjoy your metal.

hold it under a lamp when you are drunk, it sparkles.

[–][deleted] 3 insightful - 3 fun3 insightful - 2 fun4 insightful - 3 fun -  (0 children)

That hunk of metal is up 175% 50%. You put that in your pipe and smoke it.

Edit: I bungled basic math.
