One of their earliest evolutions was to say fuck this whole having feet thing, slithering is the way to go. It seems counter intuitive like ants evolving from wasps - fuck wings too, amiright.

No such thing as evolution or intelligent design. It's just random genetic mutations until something sticks best to the environment the mutant is propelled onto. Fakts.

I seriously doubt it's random. How would something randomly sprout wings or feet, or not, and be perfectly adept with the adaptation?

We see how much the environment domesticated dogs live in alters their appearance from their wild cousins. The environment is triggering those changes. It has to be.

I was drunk and being a bit facetious. The general scientific consensus points to random mutations and natural selection. But how do mutations end up producing functional and adapted limbs? And why do decapods evolve to crabs? The mysteries of DNA. It's one of those concepts, like the birth of the Universe, self-consciousness, that we will never have a full understanding of. In the case of dogs(and foxes) domestication does change their appearance like the coloration of their coats and floppy ears but there's also cross-breeding at play. Still a mystery to me why those changes occur.
