Was the West's collapse a result of idolatry?

The enemies of the West are idolatry, satanism, and Judaism. But all of these have been around for a long time, so they can't have been the cause of the recent fall of the West.

It's true that idolatry has always existed, but maybe there were some conditions that were suppressing idolatry before, and then the conditions changed in such a way that permitted idolatry to flourish. For example, maybe if society is too wealthy, this allows idols to thrive. Most degenerate modern philosophies are descended from philosophies of people like Nietzsche, Feuerbach, Hegel - they flourished during or immediately after the industrial revolution.

I do not yet have a strong opinion about what I think caused the West to collapse.
