The previous head who was a stupid but well-meaning conservative has been fired, and now a liberal is replacing him. The way I know he is liberal is he is always giving diversity talks, he hired half of his staff to be women in his last management position, and he lists his preferred gender pronouns on his bio page. The new boss has also taken the trendy modern programming group and made them all our bosses, literally. They were ordinary programmers before but now they are all supervisors and the rest of the department are their employees - the department is centered around them now.

The new department head is also imposing this stupid "matrix management" structure on us which is designed to make it so that individual initiative goes unnoticed and unrewarded. In our old system, we had a boss and his objective was to please customers. But in the new "matrix management" system, they artificially add an intermediary layer of customers between the boss and the customers - these intermediary customers are called "team leaders" even though they have no employees, and they are the ones whose job is to please the real customers. So now instead of the boss's job being to please customers, his job is now to please these fake intermediary customers. So if you find a way to make life better for the real customers, while bypassing the fake intermediary customers, it's worthless to your boss.

I was irritated by the previous head, who was a stupid conservative, because he would always get fooled by charismatic people and invest in them, while neglecting the people with truly good ideas. But I am afraid that things are going to get worse now that the modern programmers have taken over, because they actively hate good ideas. For example, I made a software which some customers love and are now using as their main software, and these modern programmers hated this because it was orders of magnitude better than their own software and so they complained to the old department head to get him to force me to stop working on it. The old department head refused to make me stop and in fact praised my software and made plans to promote it, but I am afraid that the new department head will listen to the modern programmers and force me to stop! Crap!
