I think this kind of relationship with nature is perfectly natural for Europeans. I am sure this has some visceral, ancestral origin. He is right - look up outdoors, prepper, bushcraft channels - the vast majority are based in either English-speaking countries or Scandinavia, the rest in other Western countries.
