It looks like some of the people associated with that Synagogue are evil. As for Allan Nadler, it seems he's a fan of 'mowing the lawn' in Gaza.

I think they are just describing the preexisting basement they knocked into.

Perhaps someone (or something?) got mixed up then. I do see a "20-foot-wide" in the article it links to, but it's not talking about the tunnel. I mean even if I hadn't seen pictures, that would be insane. Who would dig a tunnel too short to stand in but wide enough for ten people to walk crawl side by side?

They use the term "extremist" a lot in that article. Extremists who believe they need to expand this building with underground tunnels? Seems a pretty trivial thing to be extreme about.

Yeah, but from what I can gather, that's really the story. That they're religious fanatics who think their former Rabbi is the messiah, and they think they must have access to his synogogue, and so digging into its basement is what God is commanding them to do.
