It could, but probably negligible. Think the difference between using a baffle and not using a baffle. How bad is the dent? And more importantly, how did it happen? 😯

It was a huge speed bump, I drove slowly but it touched anyway. Too bad the cat is in the same pipe otherwise I could just buy a new one

I'd bite the bullet and de-cat with an aftermarket, but only because I can't stand a dent, it'd bug the hell out of me.

You could try the ice trick, but no guarantee it would work. Otherwise maybe a dent guy could 'tap' it out. They have these long tapper things that pop them back.
