I think Meghan being Californian is a bigger problem than her race.

I think the idea that Harry has been looking for a way out for years and Megan is just the excuse is more likely.

I mean they basically let the press shit on him to protect William all through his twenties.

The British press did not harp on California. (Besides she was living in Canada at the time.) They did harp on her race. I note that one his relatives wore a racist brooch to some event with her.
