The Christchurch and Vegas shootings clued me in to the "filtering" (nice for censorship). You can't find the actual footage on Google search. It still wasn't too hard to primarily use google for most things and DDG for sensitive topics, but all the other changes have really gutted the usability of Google's flagship product.

It seems foolish to me, but I suppose Google has become too big to fail at this point.
