this is a great video, it shows what "Democracy" means when it is installed by the US to these former dictatorships: It's just the infrastructure that allows the Deep State control over the citizenry instead of the dictators.

this US Senator Murphy (D, Connecticut) seems angry and ambitious about failed "foreign policy" regarding Venezuela, but "Foreign Policy" is just the term for "How we are taking over your country," with this coup. He fully admits to the coup and how offering aid was a tactic in the coup.

13:00 our hero (Richard Medhurst) proclaims the president of Venezuela is the president of Venezuela, over and over so I had to look it up:

The current presidency has been disputed between Juan Guaido and Nicolás Maduro since January 10, 2019, in the ongoing Venezuelan presidential crisis. Maduro was elected to his first term in 2013 but received backlash from opposing Venezuelans and some members of the international community especially the United States. Maduro was accused of authoritarian rule and fraud in the elections that were held on May 20, 2018. Guaido, the President of the National Assembly of Venezuela, took the Oath of Office as Interim President on January 23, 2019, citing Article 233 of the Constitution of Venezuela to "cease the usurpation, hold a transitional government, and call for new elections". The office remains disputed.

where even is Venezuela? I had to look that up too: https://imgur.com/a/Vd1dp5M

this Richard Medhurst is pretty good, he explains things slowly and unpacks what the senators are saying. This isn't some conspiracy theory or radical position, this is a "hey get out of our country where you have no business in our politics" position.

Our hero denounces the "honorable" Elliot Abrams, who was caught lying in the Iran-Contra deal, pardoned by Bush Jr, and here he is back on the job installing puppet democracies, meanwhile Black teens are sentenced for years in prison and then a ruined life for a few grams of pot, he sites as an example of the corruption.

17:46 the disputed Guaido refuses to participate in elections, refuses to campaign, it is Medhurst's opinion this is what Joe Biden campaign is doing now: refusing to campaign, and if/when Trump wins they will cry "illegitimate election," but nobody can predict the future.

Medhurst stresses it is not the US' job to declare legitimacy or illegitimacy to any government outside the United States (Syria, Iran etc).

As aid being offered as part of the pressure/takeover, so it is the citizens who suffer under sanctions--sanctions that would be lifted if foreign governments kow tow to America's political demands, arguing America itself is a terrorist organization holding civilians hostage using sanctions.

23:00 arguing America is discussing the political future of Venezuela as if it were an adult discussing how to deal with a child, or a dog. "Who are you? [to interfere in foreign elections?]" Arguing this is white supremacy in the flesh, imperialism, et-cetera. "Who asked you to supervise?"

28:00 "I would love to see Medero sitting there and telling Americans how their elections would be run. Americans would lose it. But if other countries point out American police brutality they are met with 'mind your business' responses from America, as America dictates other countries' elections, puts sanctions on them (thereby 'murdering' the citizens) ..."

30:00 pointing out this coup violates international laws set out by America and other United Nations countries. It costs a lot of money to go on military adventures, having fake aid at borders, having the navy hang about instead of building hospitals, schools, et-cetera.

33:00 subsidizing American companies to go get that foreign oil, 30-million dollars per day going to a private corporation in Delaware, rather than anything going to the Syrian population.

tl;dr - shit sucks when America comes to take over your country.

Not sure at all why this is shared in /s/WayOfTheBern. IMO Bernie Sanders should be shot and pissed on as the worst kind of traitor and that sub should be used for exposing him as a traitor. The ideas he shared but never actively backed up were not his own only and they can live on in other subs and with other people that will actually act for the people and not sell out.

I'm not sure why it's shared in /s/Progressivism either, other than I'm guessing the Richard Medhurst guy must be progressive.

Would be definitely worth posting in /s/Venezuela or even /s/vzla.

By the way, thanks for making /s/Progressivism - something that I'd been meaning to do since I arrived on SaidIt 20+ months ago, though obviously not on the top of my list as I was able to make due in other subs.
