While I don’t think anyone is responsible for the sins of their great great great great grandparents I can’t help but feel somewhat good that people other than us white folks are being told to eat shit.

Well, no, we should not make people responsible for the sins of their fathers, so to speak, but when people make collectivist arguments, collectivist counter-arguments are fair game. It does not mean you believe in it. You do not have to believe in Earth being flat to ask "Okay, so if Earth was flat, how come ..."
