Don't listen to /u/Tom_Bombadil and the like. I was skeptical too until my neighbor died of COVID (2 days ago). He was 50 and was in excellent shape. One day, he was fine. The next, he was sick. The next we was dead. I can't believe he is gone.

This is absolutely a real threat and we should do everything in our power to ensure hospitals can handle the influx of patients.

He actually lived in Santa Clara next door to my childhood home, where my mom still lives. I realize how incredibly unlucky this was because actual mortality rates are super low in the area (not quite as low as SF, but low). I cannot overstate how much I wish that made any difference. He is dead and the way he died freaks me out.

What freaked me out was how fast it happened. He ran a half marathon with me in December and was in awesome shape. I did not personally see him suffer but my mom was the one who drove him to the hospital.

Seriously though, before this happened I was convinced this whole thing was blown out of proportion. I, like you, do not trust the media AT ALL. I could not believe anything until it affected someone I know personally. I still have concerns and skepticisms but this is not benign.

I'm flattered that an obvious shill (with barely a karma point of credibility) is discouraging others from reading my comments.

      I'm clearly doing something right.

      This is high praise! ;-)

Yes, you have done something right, if your goal is to spread misinformation.

Karma points are not a measure of credibility, only a measure of how much time you spend on SaidIt. Also, who's more likely to have inflated karma: a shill or a regular user?

If you actually had a leg to stand on in all these ridiculous arguments you get into you wouldn't have to make ad hominem and straw man attacks so often.

      FTFY.

      Thanks for the kind words.

You and I both know that you're an amateur shill.

Your arguments are too foolish to dignify with a response.

Here's a few truth bombs that castrate your emotional sob story.

Covid-19 — Navigating the Uncharted (List of authors. Anthony S. Fauci, M.D.)

If one assumes that the number of asymptomatic or minimally symptomatic cases is several times as high as the number of reported cases, the case fatality rate may be considerably less than 1%. This suggests that the overall clinical consequences of Covid-19 may ultimately be more akin to those of a severe seasonal influenza (which has a case fatality rate of approximately 0.1%)

Proof from the horses mouth that it's a hoax.

This Is Strange: Total US Deaths in March 2020 are Actually Down 15% from Average of Prior Four Years

Italy: Only 12% of “Covid19 deaths” list Covid19 as cause Report shows up to 88% of Italy’s alleged Covid19 deaths could be misattributed

Oh dear. You are either projecting that you are a CCP shill or you are just very confused. If it is the latter, I genuinely feel sorry for you. Everyone has desires for (1) understanding and certainty, (2) control and security, and (3) to maintain a positive self-image. Try putting all three categories aside when you look for answers and form opinions.

It is better to withhold judgement and lack strongly held opinions than to latch onto falsehoods. Your first link is a credible source but you seem to be gleaning a lot more from the article than the authors intended. The second two, the Gateway Pundit and the Off-Guardian are classic right wing propaganda sites. You are clearly starting with your own suspicion as a hypothesis then only looking for sources to backup your original idea.

Another example of an unfounded opinion: that I am a shill. If that were true, who do you suspect are my accomplices? Why? Just curious.
