So true... I find so many that clamor for "diversity" are actually terrified of ideological diversity. The idea of "agreeing to disagree" is just lost on some people when they get too extreme.

The real problem is when people get on their moral high-horse, and take the position "either you agree with me, or you are evil" which leaves no room for compromise or discussion. Anyone who cannot see shades of grey and instead see things so black-and-white, is usually someone who is ideologically lost to extremism.

We live in an era of ideological echo-chambers, but there are more of them than there's ever been. It is creating odd effects. Some become very good at dealing with conflicting ideas because there's so much info available, but others double-down on their preferred echo-chamber and isolate themselves ideologically, and then become unable to tolerate even slightly conflicting opinions.

Moral righteousness is a powerful emotion, and especially dangerous when the person is misinformed or incorrect.

Some become very good at dealing with conflicting ideas […] other double-down on their preferred echo-chamber

Shout out for people who alternate between the two at random! Woo! We are represented!

Some say random. Others see patterns.

What's the pattern? I'd really like to cut down on that doubling-down, and that'd help with it.

I was just teasing you a bit.

But it's true. For everyone. Some more obvious than others. Whether they see it or not. Myself included.

I have no opinions or insights specifically for or about you today. So put your mind at ease.

Yes, let the neo-Nazis have the mic. Give time to the guys who want to exeterminate other humans based on superficial aspects of their person. Let's also give floor time to the man-boy-love advocates, and the rape-as-means-of-mating incels. We wouldn't want to be terrified of what these people have to say, heavens no.

That's an over-generalization fallacy. You're taking the idea to extremes far beyond what I obviously meant.

Not much offends me but narrow-mindedness does. It's basically shutting your mind to different perspectives and ideas . It's stagnation on an intellectual level; holding on to the same preconceptions and notions without ever questioning their validity. Just my two cents.

Are you sure that it is offence you feel? I would prefer the term "irritate"

[–]Optimus85 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

You're right, "irritate" would be a more apt term to describe it. "Frustrate" as well...

I'm offended you didn't retreat to Raddle.

I'm offended that you're offended.

Nobody would ever admit to being offended by everything, so this is a non starter.

I'm offended by that.

Perfectly Correct Meme

Take a look at the Delta Airlines incident in which a woman is being offended over napkins provided by Coca-cola during a certain flight (?) telling people to actively socialize with people instead of doing it over the internet. She basically thinks it's an overly creepy act. Which in fact is actually not, from a different perspective. Yet said company providing those napkins was bullied to oblivion by these types of people.

So yeah, i fully understand this meme. Approved.
