All people that cannot be manipulated by the people that really pull the strings behind closed doors are thrown out of the race.
Any election should be about ideas and plans but (except for Switzerland, afaik) no western is. This is no coincidence.
Politicians only saw the opportunities for themselves when they copied these shitty systems into their own legislation.
Thinking long-term was obviously omitted in most western political systems.

Its also why they changed the methods of calculating the required percentage to enter debate mid-way through to exclude Gary Johnson from the debates in the 2016 election. They were using registered voters and when he got close, they switched to likely voters.
