years ago they discovered the Teutoburg forest mass graves (battle September 8–11, 9 AD - big disaster for Romans) with large numbers of lorica segmentata plate armor - which had been thought to not be deployed yet - Germans had many blunt force weapons which plate armor works against much better than the lorica hamata chain armor
