What a crock of shit. There was no “auto-pilot” mode on the B-17.

I can appreciate that. However, that is flight control, not auto pilot, and nowhere in there is anything mentioned about landing the plane. All that system is doing is transferring controls and performing other airborne movements. My grandfather was a pilot in the 19th bomb group in the South Pacific. I personally have flown on the “909”. I own a b17 flight manual.
