Interesting Article from American Conservative Balking at Jingoistic Calls for War With Russia

I read this just now. It does rambles a bit and could be much more concise than it is:

It discusses how the elements that have disparaged traditional Americans are now shocked that many such people do not want a war with Russia.

There are some caveats. If Twitter is any indication, a lot more of those types are not nearly as adverse to war with Russia as they need to be.

I also think the article lacks sufficient analysis as to why any war with Russia is just a very, very bad idea. History teaches us this (Hitler and Napoleon were ultimately undone by war with Russia), a consideration greatly accelerated by the prospect of nuclear annihilation.

I will also add that--unlike this author who unilaterally condemns Putin-- i am ambivalent about Putin and what he has done. I read this twenty page essay. Some of it comes across as very bizarre, but I chalk that up to my ignorance of Russian and Slavic history. On the other hand, the US had expanded Nato all the way to Russia's very border, something which we would never tolerate (imagine a Russian presence in Mexico, or compare and contrast with the Cuban Missile Crisis.

Finally, as per usual with these rah-rah tradional American normies, they are Johnny come lately, to put it mildly, with the realization that the United States has not been a force for good in the world. Our role in WWI, complicity with the Treaty of St Versailles alone should be enough to see this. That Yugoslavia was an American idea (which had a strong probability of leading to a much worse war in the 90s than it did) is an indellible indictment of US Foreign Policy over the Past Century.

Russia was losing against Hitler. Lend-Lease saved Russia.

It is hotly debated whether Germany could have possibly won.against the Soviet Union regardlessnkfnwhat it did. There are many, many variables at play.

That statws, even if one concedes your argument for the sake of argument, I hope you are not suggesting that calls for war with Russia are anything short of suicidal, apocalyptic folly.

Americans conservatives are like a blind man. They stumbled many times and slammed into many walls but slowly they managed to find the right track with their hands.

Cons now rightly see that the US regime is their enemy. They now oppose the US government, judiciary, media, academia, entertainment and military. Most important is them losing their faith in the military and corporations.

They correctly see that there's no point in rooting for those who wish your destruction.

White conservatives don't own America, blacks, Jews and sexual perverts do. Let them fight Washington's wars.
