Technology has ushered in the age of the last man. The advent of nuclear weapons has all but ended large-scale wars. Without wars, the culture heroism has all but disappeared. Now great men no longer go to the military and perform great feats of heroism for the world to emulate.

Now they go into banking and finance for making money is the only avenue of greatness nowadays.

There are no more kings or conquering generals to emulate. So the youth emulates sports stars, actors and singers, entertainers who lead a fake life.

All areas of the earth have been discovered and exploited, so there's no room for exploration and wonder anymore. Nature is no longer a mystery that involves awe and dread. Her secrets are laid bare due to science and she is a helpless prisoner in the hands of technology.

Technology has enabled populations to grow into massive numbers and the needs to feed and supply this population has led to a collapse in the quality of food and environment. Plastics, seed oils, GMOs, industrial smog....the human body and the environment are destroyed to maintain the massive hordes. These have in turn led to collapse of testosterone and fertility among men, and have rendered them into fragile, unsightly enuchs.

Men no longer engage in physical exercise, produce testosterone, and gain satisfaction from their work. Now they sit before computer screens for 12 hours a day and suffer from back problems at the age of 40.

The craftsman has all but disappeared, replaced by the faceless workers and engineers pumping out standardized, mass-produced goods.

Women no longer need men any more for the industrial revolution has led to the near elimination of physically demanding jobs. This combined with the general prosperity brought by industrialization has led to a society where women can fully provide for themselves without the help of a man.

This independence has likewise led to a collapse in marriages, sex, stable families, and romance. Women are hypergamistic and have no desire to settle for an average man. They want chad and would rather be childless spinsters than lay with a 5/10 normie...even if they're 4/10 themselves. This in turn has led to the over-sexualization of society and the death of romance.

Due to the elimination of war, the struggle between nations is no longer a test of will and courage, but it's an endless game of subversion, subterfuge, and amassing money. A truly feminine world.

The warrior, the Priest, the King, the philosopher...they no longer stand at the apex of society. Only merchants do.

Technology has truly ushered in the age of the last man.

she is a helpless prisoner in the hands of technology

I highly doubt hat. Nature bats last. Always.

Insightful analysis. Anyone thinking this can be saved would have to have very low standards. I say, the sooner the better.

Unless the surface is thoroughly seared, there will be survivors in the cracks and crannies who will restart, and begin a new age for humans.

In this segment Bill makes the point that superhero movies are so popular because men don't have any wars to fight anymore. I think that's true. The end of war is actually a disaster for men. As a sex we're becoming increasingly useless to society. This is why the system has become so anti-male, because they see in males the overthrow of themselves. They need ever more immerse virtual reality to pacify the ever growing mass of alienated and disaffected males. I wonder when this powder keg will finally explode.

Have to disagree. Modern technology has made warfare far more dangerous and risky. If all Men did was fight today, entire nations would go extinct if they actually used their real might (i.e nuclear weapons).

Or if we're going to fight wars, we need to stop doing it on Earth. Warfare served its purpose in the past by helping to expand borders and get new resources. But since all of Earth is explored at this point, maybe it's time we fight Aliens now?

What that tells me is that modernity itself is actually the problem.

Sort of?

I wouldn't want to go back to Soviet times where an ounce of bread was seen as a luxury. My major concern is reversing demographic change (of white countries) followed by protecting the environment. The nerds and shut ins can be dealt with over time.

Since when are Soviet times not counted as a period within modernity?

Lack of internet? Food scarcity? Depending on the region, some may have not even seen or owned a car?

It's like calling North Korea modern, even though much of the country is still poor and behind the times.

The more precise definition of the word "modernity" refers to a specific historical period and a set of transformations caused by the Enlightenment, not to any of the things you listed. North Korea is an industrialised country with modern government institutions and a materialist ideology based on the philosophical and social principles of the Enlightenment. It is certainly modern in the precise sense.

Modernity started with the invention of the printing press, not the Enlightenment.

Personally, I associate the printing press and the mass circulation of information with the same processes of rationalisation that define the Enlightenment, so I disagree, but yours is also a reasonable interpretation.

Industrialization is a key factor in modernity, and the beginning of our end. Perhaps it was just a major turning point, and inevitable based on our genetics? It does appear we lack self-control as a species, and have no ability to self-regulate.

The major problem with humans is they believe themselves to be intelligent and conscious. Even just a quick look around at our current state disproves that theory beyond any doubt.

Did I miss something, I kinda skipped around at the end but sounded like he was saying superhero movies are popular because young people today have no game and need to get laid more, that the movies are escapism for the guys watching them.

Besides, what do you mean there have been no wars? A two decade long just ended but there's always another war. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_ongoing_armed_conflicts

As a sex we're becoming increasingly useless to society

You've never lived with a woman? Society isn't going to function without men. Women are awesome, and they're very capable. More than they've historically been given credit for. And yet they still do things like break down in tears when they miss their exit, get scared of spiders, and can't change their own tires.

Women need men, men need women. We complement each other.

I'm not talking about women. I'm talking about the system.
