Japan has its issues. It's got feminism written into its constitution (and you'll never guess who was responsible).

I always see this brought up but in practice, Japan is anti-feminist. For example, they consistently score the lowest in the gender gap report. No other 1st world nation comes close to them.

And culturally speaking, Japan is a male orientated society. You're more likely to see positive examples of Men being portrayed as heroes and saving the day in their media. Whereas Women are portrayed as being quiet and trying to be a good spouse instead.
