SS: As per the title. Isn't it strange the further World War II recedes historically, the more shrill the cries to denounce anyone suspected of wrong think becomes.

Might as well cancel Henry Ford while we are at it.

It's because the legitimacy of the entire postwar order rests on cheap consumer goods and not being the Nazis, so the deeper the crisis of legitimacy grows, the more screeching you'll hear about "Nazis" and "Nazism" as if it's 1930.

AFAIK public opinion was squarely against the war, Hitler was time's Man of the Year twice, etc. The public had to be tricked into war by baiting Japan to bomb our old obsolete ships conveniently laid bare in Pearl Harbor (our new ones were parked near Japan). (if I have my facts wrong please correct me).

The Man of the Year award is often mistaken. It is not always given to celebrate a figure, it is for the most important person of the year. America was very much anti Nazi when Hitler was given that title.

He still had a lot of positive press in the US, people respected him.
