Yeah. I've been bitten by this in loads of places. While not being a conspiracy theorist, I have identified as a:

  • hacker, conflated with breaks-into-computers cracker; and
  • (novice, not very good) rationalist, conflated with obnoxious pseudo-intellectual rationaliser

It's incredibly frustrating when people take terms to mooch off their legitimacy, and drag everyone else down with it.
