'Two decades of U.S. policy appear to be rooted in a mistaken understanding of what happened that day.'

Nonsense.

By 'rooted in a mistaken understanding of what happened that day' they actually mean 'rooted in completely wilful and premeditated lies'.

Nobody misunderstood anything.

They knew they were lying.

Yep - and we should recall that one of the first official responses was to move members of the Saudi royal family from their locations in the US, to protect them. And we learned back then about the funding of the entire operation (pilot training &c) by the Saudis.

Sure, and indeed, almost every single one of the alleged hijackers of 9-11 was Saudi.

But, 'The Saudis did it!' explanation might also be yet another attempt at misdirection, to finally appease the 9/11 families.

Nobody believes the original narrative, it seems, namely that Osama bin Laden, an Arab cave-dwelling religious fanatic, could muster the superior technological know-how, extensive resources and precise coordination required to pull off the complexity of the simultaneous 9-11 operations.

In any case:

Cui bono?

Cui bono?

A lot of people who knew it was about to happen.
