The history of the "Shriners" as read from one of their "secret" books, not meant to be seen outside the order, written in 1902. Says it was originally set up as a group of vigilantes to hunt down and kill "criminals".

Of course that is the question. It probably changes drastically over time, because that started in the 1600s.

It started in the 1870s but it's just an offshoot of Freemasons

I was mistaken, their book said 600s not 1600s. But that's their story.

The book I am referring to is a book by a Shriner telling their version of their history, but yes specifically Shriners. They try to connect it all the way back to the cousin of Muhammad the Islamic prophet which is obvious fantasy.

Although a segment of them are connected to Children's Hospitals, they're a popular venue for local infiltration, namely the political kind.
