Not surprised either. I'm in a sort of "relearning" process where I'm trying to rid myself of a recency bias that holds the assumption that the corruption and criminality is a new phenomenon.

Part of that perception may be the blatant manner it seems to be happening- that because media propagandists seem to have engineered demand for the bias and unconstitutional overreaches.

It's interesting that a plurality can be brainwashed into supporting the denial of constitutional rights for those with whom they disagree.

Once in a while I come across an article about world history cult leaders of political or religious or military and how did they get so many on their bandwagon? It seems to boil down to desire for power and those types want and need absolute power. To hell with anyone they just demand power and alphabet-soup top members of federal agencies appear to have that. "By Any Means Necessary" called BAMN was actually a real thing with no remorse or guilt that the only rule to getting what you want is there are no rules. That's why such people sleep in peace every night because their own conscience utterly depraved and dead. I've met a few of absolute evil in my life and the real scary thing about them was that they had zero problem with being evil and hurting others. No problem at all.

Almost like the purpose of a set of rules is not to level a playing field but to tip the scale against opposition by imposing restrictions that one has no intention of respecting.

When cooperative media bias nis enlisted, public sentiment can be manipulated in retaliation to any attempt said opposition to fighting fire with fire and violating those rules by "bombshell revelations" of the transgressions while turning a blind eye to the same violations committed by people the media supports.

"No rules" becomes a huge advantage when the permissions are one-sided.

Government has been corrupt since the dawn of society. There are old Caesar quotes about how he controlled the population. The thing is that people simply will not accept that they have gotten got. Even if you lay it out so a 5 year old can understand. Because it's simply to horrible for a regular person to accept that they've been a useful idiot all their life.

They were born into slavery. They've lived in slavery all their life. It's literally all they know. They don't understand there is very little difference between getting whipped while being called a slave and simply having a gigantic chunk of everything they create or make taken under threat of violence.

Arguments like but we get all these things. School, health care etc. When everyone pays 3 times as much as they get back on average. They think roads and everything somehow disappears when the greedy peddo's who do nothing but steal disappear ;-)
