I agree, but what would end up happening is malpractice suits with one side saying, "well, he doesn't even have a college degree." College is mostly a gate which keeps children from low-income families perpetually poor (notably black people). "Learning" is secondary to the business model despite what they want you to believe.

Think about how easy it is to go to college when you are from a middle-class family. You have a vehicle for transportation. You have plenty of time to do homework without having multiple jobs.

I knew a guy who literally turned off the water and electricity in his apartment because he was so strapped for cash--but he made it through college. Maybe not as a summa cum laude, but his achievements are far more admirable.

Furthermore, it's easier to go through college as a female because of societal support (read: hoeing your way through your degree). No wonder colleges have 50% more females than males (60/40 ratio). It's tough to be that guy who was kicked out of his home when he turned 18. He can't even file a FAFSA.

Gatekeeping is exactly it.
